Shrines come in various forms and are used for different reasons. My shrine sits on my bed headboard and is with me every night. My shrine honors my children. It’s a special place devoted just for them. I love my Nathaniel and my Samantha and am so very proud of them.
I think we need to express our love and respect for our loved ones and celebrate their lives when they are with us now. Traditionally, we do this after they have passed on. Haven’t you been to a memorial service and learned something about the person that you never knew about? I have. It makes me feel like I didn’t take the time to really get to know the person or ask questions to get to know them better.
I start my day visiting my shrine and smile, giggle and sometimes get emotional. It’s a combination of feelings that comfort me. Being the mother of my dear children warms my heart and gives me peace.
