Too Cute for Words

I used to love feeding the ducks when I was a little girl.  Don’t you remember breaking up stale white bread and the crumbs would go everywhere?   I do.  I loved those days. Today I can’t feed the ducks at my nearby pond.  It’s not allowed.  But, “that’s ok because I can still enjoy them.”  My Samantha taught me to turn an upside down feeling right side up.  Some people call it “looking on the bright side of life,” but I call it Samanthaisms. My morning walk started with a visit to my nearby pond.  Look what I found!

Flower Bloom Medicine

Posted on October 8, 2018 by Laureen2014

Recently, red pops of color exploded in my new yard.  This is a new house for us and I didn’t really know about the colors of the plants.  I love purple, red is my 2nd favorite and green is a definite close 3rd.  These exotic plants are bromeliads and there are thousands of different species.  I’m calling this one the “perfect trifecta” species.   My other surprise was the red hisbiscus blooms.  These have always been a favorite of mine.  You know you’re in Florida when you see palm trees and hibiscus blooms.  They make me smile real big.  Some

Modern Art a la Playa

Posted on October 6, 2018 by Laureen2014

We started our day with a morning stroll, swim and relax time at the beach. On our stroll, we discovered a unique palm tree.  It was a rockin’ piece of modern art! The beautiful railroad vines, also known as beach morning glory, were everywhere. I learned that this plant is also known as goat foot.  I don’t see a goat foot, do you? Visit Honeymoon Island!  It really is a wonder! P.S. Make sure to click on blue words above. [wpvideo EMOqbh5E]

Just Over 3 Miles for the Ta-Tas

Posted on October 5, 2018 by Laureen2014

I accidentally broke my 3 mile walking goal this morning.  It was a pretty easy 1st mile, the 2nd mile was a little harder and the 3rd mile was a bit of a challenge for my brain.  Usually, after the 1st mile, I start to get a little whirly and have to really concentrate on my surroundings.  Believe it or not, seeing my shadow in front of me sometimes makes me feel unsteady.  No, I’m not afraid of it. I haven’t walked 3 miles in a very long time.  Sean was with me the whole way, coaching and lending a

No Two Sunsets are Alike

Posted on October 5, 2018 by Laureen2014

Sunsets look different every time.  There’s no perfect one over another. They all light up the sky with bright and fiery colors.  Sometimes the sky really takes on a new life and meaning after the sun disappears for the night.  This is the best time for me. Peace.

You Just Had to be There!!!

Posted on October 3, 2018 by Laureen2014

Some experiences are indescribable to others.  You just had to be there!  I usually hear this when people talk about the Grand Canyon or other natural wonders.   We had this experience right here on Honeymoon Island, our favorite, local beach.  It was a beautiful Sunday morning, low tide and it was manatee mating season. Manatees are protected under Federal law.  Please don’t touch them like the disrespectful people did on this day.  Why do people think it’s alright to touch a wild animal? I wonder.  I think I hear me saying, “Don’t touch them!”  You know I can’t keep my

“Save the Ta-Tas,” said Sean.

Posted on October 2, 2018 by Laureen2014

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month! 1 in 8 American women will get breast cancer in their lifetime.  Did you know that men can get breast cancer too? It’s time to start training to Save the Ta-Tas.  I started my day with a walk around the nearby pond and the Pinellas trail.  It’s very motivating to walk next to the elders and they are kicking my ass.  I want to be like them when I grow up!  There were several groups of people walking, biking and getting their sweat on. My first mile took 17:39 min. which was pretty good for me.

Back on Track

Posted on September 30, 2018 by Laureen2014

She’s back, well, close enough!  Last year, I went to see a counselor to help me get back on track.  I asked her, “Why me?  She responded with a direct and soft voice, “It’s just a bump in the road.”  I looked at her. My long, very bumpy journey is almost at its end.  I won’t miss one bit of it.  I live each day excited to be standing and can’t wait for a smooth sailing 2019!  After all, it will be my 55th year! I decided to start back on track with my blog posts today.  Why?  I will
